Church History
Mountain View Ministries, formed in 1992, was originally named Thurmont Church of God. Pastors Jeff and Meredyth Shaw, began this ministry in their home, eventually moving to the square of Thurmont. As growth in membership and attendance continued, the church took residence on Woodside Avenue, remodeling a small building as a place of worship and reverence for God.
Following a flash flood in 1997, the church moved to, and remodeled, a former trucking facility at 103 Apples Church Road in Thurmont, MD. Through the grace of God, the love of many churches and their pastors and members, friends and other loving associates, and many hours of hard work from the membership itself, the church was completed and dedicated to God on September 13th, 1997. Renamed Mountain View Ministries to indicate our community mindedness and outreach programs, we remain affiliated with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN.
Discipleship, eldership, membership, leadership and ministry care classes are held throughout the year. It is our goal to build people for the glory of God and bring forth the spiritual gifts, and works and fruit of the Spirit in each individual. This church also has a strong ministry of local, national and international missions and evangelism.
Those who want to hear the Word of God preached and taught in spirit and in truth are invited to attend all services and functions of the church. We have plenty of parking and are handicapped accessible.
